Charles Follo Award

Do you know someone who has done marvelous things to preserve and promote the history of Michigan's Upper Peninsula? Someone who has given his/her all to successfully preserve a historic home, industrial complex, streetscape or archeological site? Someone who has interviewed and recorded the memories of older citizens before their passing? Someone who has tirelessly researched and documented the history of your community? Someone who has volunteered their time for years at the local historical society or archives?

Then nominate that person for the Charles Follo Award. Named in honor of Charles Follo, a school teacher from Escanaba who worked to establish historical societies and promote the history of the Upper Peninsula, the Charles Follo Award is presented annually by the Historical Society of Michigan to the individual who has made the most outstanding contribution to the preservation and promotion of Upper Peninsula history.

You can honor the heritage and special status of your organization or business with an official Michigan Milestone Organization Plaque. This distinguished plaque, authorized by the Historical Society of Michigan, will remind both new and long time members of your organization's or your customers of the rich heritage they are a part of and help celebrate the many contributions made to the vitality of the community and to the state of Michigan.

Your plaque will be custom-made with your organization or business name and founding date. It is of a sturdy cast aluminum finished in a deep blue (organization award) or bronze finish (business award) and measures 15x20.
